Yesterday I went to the dokter cause I didn't feel myself at ease listening to the news about the Bird flu. I talked to him about it and guess what he comes up with? 4 boxes of Tamiflu for the whole family! Just in case..

A4 and the golden ratio

Today I wandered why A4 is the size it has. OK it's not the golden ratio that is the basic principle but the fact that A0 has a square of 1 m2. The ratio of the sides in the A-series is the square root of 2 and not 1,68033.. It's close but not and ideal format for prints. "Well Pieter, what is the size of your Photoshop prints?" "40,0 cm x 23,8 cm". "But what about the frames, passpartous and floating glass?" Hmm..

Sounds and music

I think the best position for an audio freak to listen to his stereo set is in the kitchen, assumed that the kitchen is next to the room the speakers are in. Only then the music has a place, it IS somewhere, while it is located in the speakers when you are in front of them. Eerste offerte de deur uit

Vandaag bedacht dat die URL van de WRA makkelijk is uit te breiden tot een landingspagina en een offerte de deur uitgedaan. Daarna mijn portfolio maar eens aangepast en gelijk was er een mailtje van het webburo: kun je iets laten zien? Tuurijk.
Daarna wat op Google gesnuffeld (nee niet gegoogled) en er sitemaps ontdekt. Misschien een goede poging om weer #1 te staan met 4opeenrij.nl. Gelijk maar gedaan.

Mobiliteitscentrum

Het is woensdag vandaag dus ik ben als reintegratiekandidaat maar weer eens naar het mobiliteitscentrum gegaan in Noord. Maar weer eens want ik had een baantje bij de staf om het intranet op te knappen wat betreft de menu items. Het was natuurlijk een applicatie in Javascript met weet ik veel welke MS koppelingen allemaal en het liep dus al snel vast. Langzamer klikken hielp niet. Restarten van de app? onmogelijk. Gelukkig zit het er bijna op.

Op het mobiliteitscentrum zag ik dtp werk van een oude bekende die ik maar een e-mailtje heb gestuurd. Er hing een affiche voor dtp werk ervaring en daar heb ik ook op gereageerd plus dat ik op de nieuwsbrief ben beland van Amsterdam-Cares. Das dacht ik wel genoeg resocialisatie dacht ik zo.

Het gesprek op centrum ging over werken bij BT, ik denk dat ik dat het liefste doe, maar ja, als ze niemand nodig hebben.. Heeft er iemand een 24 uurs baan voor een webdesigner?

Recent research of the paintings of Van Gogh by the laboratory of Shell and the Van Gogh-museum has proved that underneath the works examined is a first layer done with charcoal. This proofs that he was a less impulsive painter than thought by most people. He was even aware that the colors fainted by time and he complained about it in a letter to his brother. I always thought he was a romantic reinvention of the crazy artist we only talk about because of his letters. Researchers made an spectrograph of the paint used and found out that he experimented with lots of different types of paint that were new at the moment.

Wie wil er nou kruisraketten? Mensen die zich willen verdedigen tegen een aanval met dezelfde wapens van een vijandige natie. Maar is er geen oorlog tegen het terrorisme gaande? bestrijd je die met een kruisraket? en de moord op het vrije woord zoals alle landen ter wereld die kennen, bestrijd je die met een kruisraket? dat is dus een geleid wapen met mogelijk een atoomkop. Waarom komen ze niet met zinnige maatregelen, ik bedoel alle kleur kopieermachines maken een merkteken op de kopieën, waarom niet wat meer toezien op de verkoop van de stoffen waarmee bommen worden gemaakt?

More traditional. Can it be explained with the objective correlative of TS Eliot? I've always translated this as taking something everyone has seen before and noticed and make it something 'new'. I started working lately on a series of Vanitas photographs taken from vintage printed matter.

What is it that the people in the suburbs of France want? I guess they are asking for a little bit more respect by enlighting the cars which obviously don't belong to them. As a spokesman has said the cause of the revolutionary days may be found in the law against traditional clothing on the schools of France.
Respect for what?
For living in the horrible condition the world is in in the 21st Century.
For not taking pensions and social security serious.
We all want a future: '68 was mainly a shift of books, maybe we want the real thing, a .69, and not the semantics of the semiotics of the lost generation.

Rose in a city

Between the bricks of a lonely town's
road some brown remains stood silently
of what once was a rose.

It had lived a dangerous life,
as far as roses can act and not be
acted upon, by the wind, the rain and the cars and the bicycles.

And on a day the flower was stolen from the stem
and it's odours could be smelled on a balcony,
in this lonely lonely town.
